Adult Swim has been producing/airing a lot of really good stuff lately. And by good, I mean dark, twisted, mental, badass, WTF stuff that normal adults would have difficulty swallowing without the proper “medication.” They show these truly twisted material in the nether-time between midnight and dawn, in a series called Infomercials. Which is as good a segue as any to bring me to this magnificent gem of a video, which was first aired on Adult Swim.
What this is — supposedly— is a video called “Unedited Footage of a Bear,” which starts out as an innocent nature documentary but is quickly interrupted by an informercial for an allergy medicine called Claridryl. And the infomercial never ends… It shows the darker side effects of the drug and just wallops you on the head with the gruesome possibilities, the inner voices that never stop.
According to this website, the creative minds behind the video are Alan Resnick and Ben O’Brien from Baltimore-based comedy crew Wham City. Though there’s nothing very funny about the above video. Well, okay, maybe the concept was good for a few laughs. But the execution? Director David Lynch would be mighty proud of this intense video short.
And that’s it for the #dailyWTF. Back to you, David Lynch.
Also, I thought of your blog when I was watching this the other day (Scissor Sisters, Invisible Light): https://vimeo.com/17444911
